Placing the tank and starting the field

The tank is
brought in by a crane truck (at left) and placed. Notice the
level sitting on top of the tank. The tank must be level and the top of the outlet
connection (shown on the left side of the tank) should match the top of your
septic field grade stake.

| Once the tank is
set, you then begin the excavation of the drain field.
Notice the level at the right of the picture. One end of the
level is set in the tank outlet (not shown off the right of
the picture) to give us our grade to the bottom of the outlet connection. Add the
height of the drain tile to this grade and subtract the depth of the drain rock and sand
to get the grade of the drain field. The sand and drain rock depths will be
specified on the septic plan which that was approved by the health department.
