Setting the drain tiles As illustrated here, we have a bed of drain rock and are establishing the top 'manifold' of the drain field. Notice the solid pipe coming from the outlet of the septic tank. Once the pipe is 'set' then it is buried in drain rock with just the top visible. This picture shows the constant use of the level to maintain accuracy. This is the final end of the drain field. You can see the drain pipe in varying stages of burial.
