The Septic Connection The septic connection involves running sewer pipe from your septic tank to the
foundation of your house. This is a fairly simple procedure but there are, as usual a few gotchas. The key is
to lay your pipe straight and level with a slight slope to allow the sewage to flow to the septic tank using
the force of gravity.

Digging the Trench
|
|
The excavator first digs the trench from the septic tank connection to the location the has
been chosen close to the footings of the house. It is important to keep this trench as straight and level as possible.
It is useful to have someone who will jump in the trench from time to time and check the level for the excavator. This is a
good test of the skill of the excavator. If you end up with a pretty straight hole and very little digging to do,
then you have a good operator.

| Once the trench is dug then place the ten foot lengths of white plastic drain pipe in the
trench and friction fit the pieces together. The white plastic drain pipe is inexpensive and available at almost all
buiding supplies store. It is four inches in diameter.
