Connecting at the septic tank

This is a close-up showing the connection of the sewer pipe to the septic tank.  The tank will usually come with the black rubber gasket that you see connected to the concrete tank.  The pipe is held in place by a stainless steel strap.  This is also typically supplied by the tank supplier.  Ensure the the pipe is clean of all debris before making the connection.

Once the sewer pipe is connected together and connected to the septic tank, you can sight down the pipe from the other end to check for to see if the pipe is straight and level.  You should initially concentrate on making the pipe level and then add the slope (1/4 inch per foot) as a second step.
